Buqs [LL 3.160] Frankenstein’s Castle (Shadow/Human/Neutral Homunculus Alignment Guide)

FROM SHADOWERA WIKI:

Homunculus is a tribe of allies in Shadow Era. They were introduced in Dark Prophecies, with further support in Shattered Fates. This type of ally are made up of creatures which have been artificially created by their specific faction (they have members on both the Human and Shadow sides). They seem to have a wide range of effects, some involving the graveyard, attachments, and attack/health increasing.

1VERSION: 3.160

Lore: The Homunculus alignment is tied together by the idea of created allies, usually with some elemental (fire, ice, electrical) theme or being created from other allies. Then growing and augmenting them.

As I look over the tribe in general and read the wiki about what the alignment is, I can’t help but think of the Frankenstein monster. Essentially the tribe is using “pieces” from your hand and “parts” from graveyards to grow your allies. So far the shadow side of the tribe revolves around discarding from the hand and exiling from any graveyards to manipulate the board and receives one or more bonuses from doing so. The human side appears to be a wisp (no real synergy), electric theme and a combination of temporary and actual growth. The neutral side appear to be all over the place but provide some additional choices for both the human/shadow builds. Homunculus decks are generally ally heavy and very reliant on items and attachments specifically, with a splash of other abilities here and there. Homunculus having access to all the different types of combat damage really makes me appreciate the Frankenstein approach of the tribe much more.

Buqs [LL 3.16] Book of Ellos’ (Templar Alignment Guide)

knight_s_prayer_by_matthieumaVERSION: 3.16

Lore: Templar – Tribes in Focus

The Templar Alignment resemble priest-like or crusading warrior figures. They have varying effects revolving around arcane damage, abilities, and buffing/debuffing various things.

This guide is an evolving article which will change periodically, depending on balancing card changes or a change in my thought process after playing more with the cards. Special thanks, as always, to Gondorian, Starval, Veles, Preybird and Bob Ross for input!

SamuelJ’s Zaliscard

I would like to start by saying this is one of the best decks I have played. Zaladar has always been strong with his ability to do 3 damage to 2 targets. With the added synergy of discard, he has become an even bigger threat.

This deck is very versatile and does not have any truly bad match ups. The main strategy of this deck is in its discard synergy. There are several ways to handle any ally played by your opponent. If needed, you can also run solo to prevent an opponent from healing or drawing from killing your allies. Continue reading

Bob Ross’s [SF] Serena Profile

Current Version: SHATTERED FATES (2.87)

HERO ABILITIES:

Serena Thoughtripper – 3SE: Until the end of your turn, your weapons have +2 attack, and if Serena deals combat damage to a hero, that hero’s owner discards a card at random.

Serena excels at control, and has since the beginning. She represents a difficult, hybrid play-style, combining items and allies. Like other rogues, she does best when she has some board presence; however she sometimes has difficulty regaining board presence or control once she’s lost it. She has comparably little room for error and it is often important to anticipate your opponent’s moves. For this reason, Serena is often considered difficult to play, like Logan. Unlike Logan, she has been considered a middle-tier hero (not the strongest, but not the weakest), and may even be top-tier in the current version (2.86-2.87). Serena requires a weapon to use her ability, which means that Serena decks would do well to have at least 6 weapons in a 40 card deck.  Having many items and abilities makes Serena have less room for allies, and so it is important to make those allies count. When Serena is played well with a good deck, it feels like everything is under control: even when the opponent doesn’t know it, she has an answer for everything.

[SF] Elementalis: Trim the Fat (Resource Control)

Inspired from FDL’s “Here be Elementalis” created during Call of the Crystal 1st expansion of Shadow Era. I decided to give it a little twist and blend it with the new Shatter Fates Expansion game mechanic, discard.

buqs [SF] Gravebone “Hero Profile”

BUQS GRAVEBONE HERO PROFILE

CotC Gravebone

Current Version: SHATTERED FATES

HERO ABILITIES:

  • Gravebone – 4SE: Return any ally from your graveyard back into play.

GENERAL:

Gravebone for the most part remains the same in Shattered Fates but he has a general increase in the speed of his game. He relies on his allies to control the board and win the game. Shatter Fates introduced many allies and tools to help Gravebone, however the new discard mechanic has been the largest factor in the growth of Gravebone, reducing his deck speed from slow to medium. Before SF, Gravebone had to wait until turn 6+ before he could effectively use his ability on a consistent level which made him extremely slow. He had to constantly minimize the amount of damage taken early so that he could transition into the mid-late game. With SF a plethora of discard options have become available which have help shaped the speed up and flexibility of his game. Now he can consistently use his ability by turn 4 (with SBO as early as turn 3). Continue reading
