[SF] Human Mage: Drawing Capabilities

Human Mages are consistently one of the Top Decks of Shadow Era. Mainly they tend to be of the rush variant and they have tons of draw options to support this. Tome of Knowledge has consistently been one of the top draw engines for Mages for all expansions. Call of the Crystals and Dark Prophecies also used lots of Bad Santa and occasionally splashed Honored Dead as well as Treasured Heirloom. Shattered Fates brings a new tool in Amulet of Conjuring which really speed the flow of draw cards to the hand. In remains to be determined whether Amulet will remain in its current form or if it will receive some nerf as we move closer to completing the set.

SHADOW ERA

Current Expansion: SHATTERED FATES

HEROES:
Nishaven – 5SE: All allies take 4 electrical damage.
Eladwen Frostmire – 4SE: Target opposing ally takes 4 ice damage and is frozen (it can’t attack, defend or use abilities) for 2 turns.
Aramia – 3SE: Target item in your deck with cost 3 or less is put into play, as if summoned at no cost. Shuffle your deck.

[SF] Baduruu: Here Be Homunculus (partial Homunculus / Resource Control)

In my continual Shadow Era Shattered Fates travels to find good pairing of unlikely matches, I decided to try and pair Baduruu with the Homunculus Tribe. I was surprised more than anything to find that there is actually some fairly good deck synergy though the tribal synergy is fairly low needing to splash non-homunculus allies to fill the deck.

[SF] Priest: Drawing Capabilities

For our (pre) Halloween release we are blessing you night with the Priests. The Priests drawing has evolved with each expansion of Shadow Era. Call of the Crystals revolved around Tainted Oracle and Wizent’s Staff, Dark Prophecies brought new tools like Forgiveness and Elizabeth Winterborn, and recently Shattered Fates brings Scriptures of the Righteous and Glass Chalice of Knowing both which seem to have replaced all the other draw options.

SHADOW ERA

Current Expansion: SHATTERED FATES

Current Version: 2.87

HEROES:
Jericho Spellbane – 4SE: Target friendly hero or ally has all enemy attachments and negative effects removed, or target attachment is removed.
Zhanna Mist – 3SE: Target friendly hero or ally heals 3 damage.
Threbin the Righteous – 3SE: Until the start of your next turn, opposing heroes and allies that enter combat with Threbin take 2 arcane damage.

[SF] Majiya “Murderous Portal” (Ravager / Portal)

A recent Shadow Era Shattered Fates expansion update changed the entire Ravager Tribe flavor. The tribal flavor moved to a more aggressive stat growth (+2 attack) from the normal +1/+1 growth pattern we have seen quite frequently. With this new high attack potential of the tribe I decided to attempt to maximize this particular strength with a haste build. What is interesting about this deck has the ability to play a variety of ways. Early you can play, 1) like a typical Ravager build or 2) control with abilities; and late play 1) like a typical Ravager build, 2) transition to a portal or 3) transition to burn with abilities. The deck started of looking to max the potential of a Majiya Portal build late where you can get great value in damage for cost ratio (if set up properly). I hope you enjoy my Ravajiya detailed below.  NOTE: Ravajiya is a trademark name created by Gondorian and I was given special permission to use :)

[SF] Wulven: Draw Capabilities

Aaaaaaoooooowwwwwww!!!!! Who doesn’t like wolves? These guys have lots of variety for draw but in general they revolve around the pack (allies) as seen with Bloodpack Shaman as well as armor like Wrath of the Forest. However the primary draw engine is Blood Moon which has one of my favorite arts in the game.

Darkclaw – 3SE: Until the start of your next turn, your weapons have +2 attack and Darkclaw has ambush (his attacks can’t be defended).

Bloodfang – 5SE: Target Wulven ally in your hand is summoned at no cost and it gains +1 base attack and +1 health.

New SF Card Cost Mechanic: SUSTAIN

On the Shadow Era Wiki Sustain is defined as a game mechanic that was introduced in Shattered Fates. This mechanic is found on cards that would otherwise be rather powerful for their cost. This effect causes the controller of a card with a Sustain cost to have to pay a cost (health from their hero or shadow energy generally) as the cost for keeping that card on the field.

Aside from a cards original casting cost, sustain is an ongoing unpreventable cost that a players HERO must pay at the end of each of your turns. The sustain cost must be paid in full for the card to persist and the cost can not be reduced in any way. At the end of your turn, if the sustain cost can not be paid, the card enforcing the sustain cost will self destruct. If there are more than one card with the same sustain costs, they will be paid at the end of turn in Standard Resolution Order.

Now let’s take an in depth look at some of the current Sustain costs and the cards associated with those costs:

[SF] Human Hunter: Draw Capabilities

Hunters have such a wide variety of draw options, including class specific in every category except allies. In earlier expansions, Bazaar was a favorite of Solo-Gwen helping her to dig for stall cards while she went for the throat, and Victor used Tainted Oracle and Treasured Heirloom for burst drawing. SF bring some new toys but all the Hunters love Hunters Gambit.

SHADOW ERA

Current Expansion: SHATTERED FATES

Current Version: 2.87

HEROES:
Victor Heartstriker – 4SE: Target opposing ally is reduced to 1 health. Return the top Hunter card from your graveyard to your hand.
Gwenneth Truesight – 3SE: Target weapon you control gains +2 durability and has +2 attack until the start of your next turn.
Ythan Redthorn – 4SE: Target friendly ally can attack 2 times this turn, and has +1 attack and ambush until the end of the turn.
